Welcome to My Blog, Ask-Afsaneh

A personal blog about everyday life, art, drama, films, travel, food tasting, and interesting discoveries—where I share my own opinions, shaped by experience, curiosity, and general knowledge.

About this Blog

Ask Afsaneh is my personal space where I share my thoughts, experiences, and observations about what interests me. From art, drama, and films to travel, food tasting, everyday life, and the experiences that finally inspired me to write my first book, My Sea Is Calling Me. This is simply a place for me to share what I think, what I’ve experienced, and what I’ve learned.

My objective? To be me—and me only. To break the silence that can grow around us through rules, expectations, and limitations, and to speak openly about life as I see and experience it. Perhaps somewhere along the way, others will recognize something of themselves in my words and feel encouraged to share their own thoughts and experiences too.

This is where I’ll share new thoughts, stories, experiences, and observations as they come along.

Afsaneh Has All the Answers?

Oh, I hope you don’t believe that! I certainly don’t have an answer to every question. I only know what I have experienced, understood, and felt at a particular moment in time. And what I see today may not be exactly what I see tomorrow.

Have you heard the old story of the blind men and the elephant?

Three blind men encounter an elephant for the first time. One touches its leg and says, “An elephant is like a tree.” Another feels its trunk and insists, “No, an elephant is like a snake.” The third touches its broad side and says, “You are both wrong. An elephant is like a wall.”

They begin to argue. Each is convinced that he knows what an elephant is.

And yet, each man is both right and wrong. He is describing truthfully what he experienced—but only the part of the elephant he happened to touch.

I think life is often like that.

It reminds me of phenomenology in philosophy: our understanding of the world begins with lived experience—with how things appear to us and how we experience them. We don’t encounter life from nowhere. We encounter it from here: through our own history, circumstances, experiences, and point of view.

That is pretty much what Ask Afsaneh is about.

I will tell you what I saw when I touched the elephant.

You may have touched a completely different part—and that is precisely the point.
